Who is Watching Video On Their Mobile Phones?

Motorola-DroidIn a previous post, I had shared my Youtube Insight Analytics data as  anecdotal proof that I had noticed an increasing number of viewers accessing my Youtube channel via mobile phones or other mobile devices.  While Youtube does not give specific information that tracks the types of phones or mobile devices that are used it does include this information in your analytics data. The great news is that Comscore has compiled and released that very data today and it basically validates the information and observation I had shared with my readers.  The information shared, basically coincides with my Youtube video viewers and varies only by a few percentage points.

In their own words, Comscore says…”For the three month average period ending June 2011, more than 16 million mobile users in the U.S. watched TV or video on their mobile phones. Males made up a significantly larger percentage of the mobile TV/video viewing audience (61.8%) compared to females (38.2%). Users age 24-34 accounted for the largest share of viewers by age representing 31.8% of the total mobile TV/video audience, while those age 18-24 accounted for 21.9% of viewers and the 35-44 year old segment represented 20.6%.

I have included a chart of the data Comscore released today.

Mobile Phone Users

In addition, Comscore is  beginning to gather data on Youtube partners and will be adding additional partners by the end of August.  All this information will certainly help in developing your Youtube channel for your small business and finding out how to plan and define your goals for your video marketing strategy.
