QR Code Generator and Design Software for Graphic Designers
Posted by richmediadp
If you are a fan of tech sites like Techcrunch, etc, or have worked with large design companies, you will probably already know that QR codes are taking the tech and design world by storm. The push for the use of the QR code is being driven by a new opportunity that is being referred to as context sensitive marketing. For further information and details, you might want to read the article, “Why the Best Online Marketing May Be Headed Offline” which goes into extensive detail as to how QR codes can be used for a business owner’s product’s marketing.
In a previous post, I wrote about how you can incorporate QR designs into your business card design, as I have seen more and more print collateral provided with QR codes that led either to a business’ website or to a special online promotion. Another popular use for QR codes is to connect a user to the App Store via their Android smartphone or Iphone for the promotion and sale of web developer’s apps. While there are several websites offering this service, my problem was finding good QR code generator software that integrates with the Adobe design software that most designers use.
Well, I think I found a credible resource, and it called Barcode Producer (It’s Apparent is the publisher) a software package that integrates with Adobe Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator and enables you to design, customize your QR code and, furthermore, allows you to send finished EPS graphics right to Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or Photoshop. The software also includes the ability to create a TIFF file of your QR code for use with Microsoft software products.
The software is pricey, starting at $199 for a single user license (and prices go up for additional mass production or automated plug-ins), but if your small business requests for custom QR codes justifies the cost, it seems like a good investment. If all you need is a one or two barcodes, I would suggest that you go to a QR code generator service like QRstuff.com in order to get one to a few QR codes for a nominal one-time or subscription fee. I have included a video from the publisher’s site for your review.
(Author’s Update: I found a free QR Code Generator site which allows you to create a QR Code for commercial use; the major criteria I was looking for. Don’t be fooled or put off by it’s plain site, it’s an awesome tool!)
